In Allyship deck
In Allyship provides a tool to connect each of us with a personal statement of purpose to help us find our unique voice so that we can use it to make some necessary trouble.
The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice. – Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Dr. King’s famous quote offers hope and gives rise to a sense that progress toward freedom, equality, and—indeed—justice is inevitable.
Bending the arc of the moral universe does not happen on its own. We the people pull it towards justice in order to form a more perfect union as an active exercise, not a passive one.
John Lewis (z”l) called for us to “Never, ever be afraid to make some noise and get in good trouble, necessary trouble.” Make holy noise in your unique voice. But finding your voice when there is brokenness at every turn can be difficult. It’s easy to become paralyzed by the sheer number of problems and number of people needing allyship.
Pause. Breathe. Think about your skills, passions, and talents. Find your voice by connecting your purpose with a societal risk in the service of a marginalized group.
As Mother Teresa said, “Not all of us can do great things, but we can do small things with great love.”
